Comment on Battles between Somebodies and Nobodies

From the beginning of reading a draft of Battles between Somebodies and Nobodies, I felt like I could relate to Julie Wambach.  It was like I had heard all this in my head at one time in my life, and I was finally seeing it in the written word.  I have probably been a Nobody most of my life.  The only time the Alpha comes out is times I'm confronting my husband and it took me at least 30 years to figure that out.  Powerlessness leaves me angry because I can't change anything.  I just get exhausted.  When I was a Somebody (strictly volunteer) I always trusted others as equals.            Colleen Abate, Surprise, AZ

Other Authors of Somebody and Nobody Books

I received a query about my academic degrees, about Stephanie Heuer's background and her working relationship with Dr. Bob Fuller.  Here are some facts.

1.  I received my Ph.D. in Adult Development and Aging from Arizona State University in 1983,  My dissertation was on the temporal perspective of widows.  Those who lose a spouse often feel like Nobodies because they may have depended on the status of a former partner and because society often treats the unmarried as less worthy.
2.  Stephanie Heuer, author of I Feel Like a Nobody When. . . I Feel Like a Somebody When. . . , was a Computer Technology instructor in the  San Jose Unified school district for 4 years.  She acquired written permission from the principle to interview students about how they would complete these two phrases, and then she gathered responses in her book.  She has now surveyed some 300 students and her book is coming out in Spanish and Norwegian.
3.  Bob Fuller has done several appearances with Stephanie and quotes her in All Rise!, his most recent book.

Thanks for the opportunity to share information about two others who work for human dignity.  Julie Wambach
